Purslane, American Spinach.
■ Winter purslane is a delicious addition as a healthy sandwich filling, in salads etc. and contains a lot of vitamin C.
■ Preferably sow in a greenhouse due to red discolouration of the leaves.
■ Sow in rows, not too thickly and do not thin out.
■ The crop grows fairly quickly under glass, allowing harvesting as early as October or November.
■ The residual plant grows again so that another quantity of leaves can be cut in early spring.
■ Requires heavy basic fertilisation of the soil.
