Zentauer poly is a barres type and is multigerm. This means that a seed consists of several nuclei. A plantlet can grow from all these nuclei. After emergence, the plantlets have to be thinned out (put on one).
Because Zentauer poly is one-third in the ground, and thus two-thirds above it, the beet is quite loose in the soil. This makes it impossible or very difficult to harvest it mechanically. Indeed, the beet easily falls over on contact with the harvester.
