■ Mushroom bean Prelude is the improved Double White.
■ A well-known variety with medium-length, oval coarse pods, hanging in clusters.
■ Flavour is more than excellent. Early and long pick-through, also with a bean in the pod.
■ For an early harvest, sow in a greenhouse or pre-sow in pots.
■ Beans like heat and too much wind and night frost are very harmful.
■ Sow or transplant after mid-May in the garden.
■ Row spacing about 40 cm with a bean every 10 cm.
It is a tribal bean, so support is not needed.
