The stubble tuber is a traditional stubble and forage crop.

The best sowing time is the first half of August. Sowing can be done either wide-spread or in rows.

The seed rate is 1-3 kg per hectare.

The stubble tuber was a very important cattle feed before 1950, but is now a small crop for the small livestock farmer. In English-speaking countries, people still swear by this crop. Sown before 10 August, there will be a harvest of nutritious tubers in autumn, loved by cows, sheep and goats... but: they are also very tasty for us as turnips in a stew!
'Samson' is tetraploid, semi-long, white with a lilac-blue head. Reasonably resistant to night frost.

Sow: May-August in rows, sow thinly and thin out at 10 cm. Harvest is late autumn, or later if winter is mild.
