Phacelia

Still an unused plot you don't have an immediate use for? Then sow Phacelia in August. It is a top-notch green manure that prevents weed growth while improving soil structure.
Moreover, it is a good crop rotation for cabbages. Mustard and turnips only increase the risk of turnip. Compared to clover, Phacelia in turn offers the advantage of dying off in frost and staying on the ground like a blanket.
Phacelia can be sown on loosened soil and wants to be raked under. In normal weather conditions, it provides a green, weed-dense carpet after only two to three weeks.
If you are lucky, you will still enjoy the beguiling blue flowers, which are also crowded by bees.
Fast-growing green manure bee flower with violet-blue flowers. Grows on almost all soils. Do not thin out. By forming a broad-branched root mass, Phacelia loosens the soil and provides good aeration. Flowers very profusely. Good forage plant for bees.
Can be worked through the soil after 3 months, but preferably in autumn. Gives a lot of organic matter in the soil.
